Sunland Roses

Sunland Roses is dedicated to better the lives of the people living in and around Timau and the Mount Kenya region - by providing much needed support and actively seeking new opportunities for them.

Children & Care:

St. Steven's Children's Home, Timau A childcare facility for orphaned and needy children from the local region. St Steven's Children’s Home, located in the small town of Timau was set up 14 years ago by the Mwiti family, partners in Sunland. St Steven's provides pastoral care for 40 children, and fulfills their education needs. It also offers day-care for babies and pre-school children of the women that work on the local flower farms. Managed by Mrs. Mwiti and a small team of dedicated workers, the home has a happy and fulfilling atmosphere, with an inspiring commitment to each and every child. Sunland Roses and the Mwiti family are key supporters of this much valued home, together with donors and friends.

Nature & Protection:

Laikipia Wildlife Forum (LWF) Sunland is an active member of LWF – a regional organisation that supports, coordinates and facilitates conservation and natural resource management within Laikipia and greater Ewaso ecosystem of northern Kenya. This is a membership driven organistion that provides a platform for dialogue for a cross section of land owners and land users including local community groups, private ranchers, pastoralists, small-scale farmers and tourism ventures. Conservation in Laikipia supports more than wildlife – it supports a way of life!

Ngare Ndare Forest Trust (NNFT) Located on the foothills of Mount Kenya, the Ngare Ndare is a well protected indigenous forest, with ancient trees, and a rich habitat for a variety of birds and wildlife. It is a vital elephant corridor linking the wilderness of Northern Kenya through the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, and the Mountain. The forest is protected through a Trust, of which Sunland Roses is an active supporter and friend.

Sport & Pride:

The North Kenya Mountain Bike Club In an effort to bring together young athletes from all walks of life, the North Kenya Mountain Bike Club introduces youths to the sport of mountain biking. It engages them in training, and sponsors entries into competition.
